Cathedrals

I love cathedrals, I really do. And I love living in a place with a plethora of them. This is Regensburg's Cathedral:


People built this with their bare hands a thousand years ago. Bare hands! A thousand years ago!


I want these in my living room. Is that so wrong?
Although this looks like a venerable saint being mugged for his cloak, it actually represents St Martin sharing his cape with a penniless beggar. I find the statues in Regensburg's cathedral charmingly ambiguous. See below:
Two figures, smooching saucily. Quite at odds with their surroundings, not least because - to my untrained eye - they look like two women. Very mysterious and very much ahead of its time.
The dirndl shop down the road. I want a dirndl. I want to be clad in the costume of a nation that celebrates the virtues of the well-stacked woman.

    I'm a big cathedral fan as well. Those stained glass windows are awesome.

    I love cathedrals too and I'm very lucky to live close to one. Durham cathedral in the UK. I go whenever I can it's so lovely and peaceful :)

    That doesn't look like two women to me. The arm on the one on the right looks very muscular and masculine. But since they all wore robes it does become hard to tell.

    Dirndls do accentuate the traditional female figure, don't they?

    beautiful photos, how I love stained glass windows and cathedrals too. I think you need a dirndl. Would look cute with a bump ;))

    Yeah! To that last line!!!! and I didn't know that was what the women's traditional costume was called and are they worn often?

    There's a german restaurant near here that has the waitresses clad in dirndls. Very often, it seems like one of them will be serving something extra as they bend over the table putting down food and drink! Those dirndls don't look like they'll contain "assets" very well.

    Cathedral's are beautiful,the architecture and the gorgeous stained glass windows!
    You Europeans are very, very fortunate to have that history so close to you!
    Canada has a few lovely Cathedrals, mostly in the Eastern provinces and we have some in Ontario as well. Yours are truly the ancient ones however!
