How time flies! - I don't have the capacity or the equipment to make a video for you right now, and I doubt that I could record something clearer than the photos... my filming skills are not very professional at all! ;-) I'm sorry I can't help you.The Gingerbread Ladyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11060553716262145464noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7907318835461639396.post-37175267873588538962020-04-04T14:50:36.670+02:002020-04-04T14:50:36.670+02:00It is hard for me to understand written instructio...It is hard for me to understand written instructions; so I was wondering if you could do a video of a sample swatch using this pattern? I'm afraid I can't give you...Hello Maureen,
I'm afraid I can't give you the kind of answer you'd like - I'm in Europe, so we calculate yarn in terms of grams and metres! In addition, I think how much you will ultimately need will depend on the size of your hook, the thickness of your yarn, your gauge - and the size you plan to make your afghan.

As a rule of thumb, it seems that many people tend to need approx. 12-15 skeins of e.g. Red Heart Super Saver for a double-bed sized afghan. That might give you a starting point to calculate the amount of yarn you might need (1 skein is 364 yards, the internet tells me!). The nice thing about this afghan is that it is essentially a 'scrapghan' and a great way to use up all of your leftovers (this is what the original blanket was.)
Best of luck! The Gingerbread Ladyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11060553716262145464noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7907318835461639396.post-22869332824072334452018-10-25T17:21:54.431+02:002018-10-25T17:21:54.431+02:00hello! I am fairly new to crocheting; could you advise approximately how many yards i should expect to need for a full length blanket? any help on this would be appreciated! thank you!Maureenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08615088471649334752noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7907318835461639396.post-50761896338205247572015-03-16T21:30:00.744+01:002015-03-16T21:30:00.744+01:00I just found your pattern and want to thank you fo...I just found your pattern and want to thank you for publishing it! I have been looking for a pattern to use up my left over yarn, create something useful and clean up! I am wondering if it matters what weight of yarn is used. I have mostly worsted weight left over from other projects but also have polyester/acrylic in my stash. I'm assuming since there is a gauge to the pattern that the same weight is preferable. I know there are other crocheters out there that have a variety of leftover yarn & wondered if they used them in your pattern. What would you recommend?Chrishttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12504905685156602330noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7907318835461639396.post-84620741992984557672015-02-16T18:48:52.430+01:002015-02-16T18:48:52.430+01:00thanks so much for sharing this pattern!!!

Similarly, start a row that begins with DC with 3 chain (or 4, if you crochet tightly - there's a bit of leeway here, but I prefer to do 2 for SC and 3 for DC) and then 1 DC in the next NINE stitches. These chains always count as the first stitch, SC or DC!

I hope this makes sense, but if not, just ask :-DThe Gingerbread Ladyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11060553716262145464noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7907318835461639396.post-65221903157525005832014-06-04T23:04:11.531+02:002014-06-04T23:04:11.531+02:00Your wonderful pattern was just suggested on a FB ...Your wonderful pattern was just suggested on a FB blog! What a great yarn buster. I'm a little confused as to starting chains on each row. I see that you do a 2 chain to begin a sc row, what do you suggest for a starting row of dc? Do I start right in into the first stitch of 10 no matter the chain still added at beginning? Does this make sense? Thank you in advance!Unknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02650613364416692188noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7907318835461639396.post-28355320402839619862014-02-14T19:49:28.055+01:002014-02-14T19:49:28.055+01:00Waouuuuhh ! what a splendid association of colours...Waouuuuhh ! what a splendid association of colours !! thank very much for sharing free !! This means that your starting chain is probably smaller than what you later crochet into it. This is quite normal, I do it too when I crochet fast. If the weight of the rest of the blanket isn't pulling it straight, you might have to (and I hate to say it) frog back and start off with a looser chain - maybe try a bigger hook size (or two)? I hope this helps, it's the only thing I can think of right now that might be the cause of the curling ...
In any case, let me know how it goes! The Gingerbread Ladyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11060553716262145464noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7907318835461639396.post-17526896500840243052013-10-04T19:32:52.676+02:002013-10-04T19:32:52.676+02:00I'm currently making a king sized blanket with...I'm currently making a king sized blanket with your pattern. However, even though I'm chaining between the sequences, the bottom is tighter than the rest, making it wrinkle a bit. Is this normal, and does this go away as you get further along, or am I doing something wrong? Would really love an answer asap, seeing as now it wouldn't be so bad to frog what I have so far...Shana Eirinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02008277240444919901noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7907318835461639396.post-78019947501559089372013-09-04T14:09:44.986+02:002013-09-04T14:09:44.986+02:00@ Michael Swann - don't kill, please!
